“Women, Culture and Politics in Latin America” vs. Dream Agent

I’m currently taking a class called “ Women, Culture and Politics in Latin America.” The course mainly focuses on how women participated and overcame struggles during revolutionary times in their countries. When revolutions were taking place in Latin American Countries, women at first didn’t get involved with any political movements. It wasn’t until they saw their husbands, sons, daughter, family, friends, neighbors, and loved ones start dying and disappearing before they started to get involved. These women felt emotionally compelled to join a cause that was non violent, to expressed their concern, hopes and sorrows. Exiles in Chile held meetings called Posadas. In El Salvador women would take the streets and protest as mothers and wives. These are only 2 examples out of hundred of ways that women expressed themselves.

After having read many books on the topic, watched documentaries and having listened (to what seemed to be endless lectures) from my professor… it finally dawned on me.

WE AREN’T THAT DIFFEREN’T

Well maybe a little different. We are fighting for different reasons and we’re definitely not in Guerilla movements!

But we as DREAM AGENTS also feel emotionally compelled to join a movement to express our concerns, hopes and sorrows. More importantly, we’re coming together because we believe in change. Whether you here for your husband, wife, daughter, son, family, friend, a loved one, or even if it’s yourself… We are here because

We believe we can make a difference.

We believe in opportunities

We believe in positive change

We are Dream Agents
