Social Media Hypocrisy - How could you?

Shocked after seeing the humanitarian disaster in Haiti and spending many hours trying to get as many to donate has taken me to see how hypocrites we can be sometimes when using social media to help others.

This brings me back to how I learned about the story of Anees Sous, a father of 6 U.S Children being deported on January 20th after 30 years living in the United States. First I saw a post in facebook asking people to make calls and sign a petition, but instead only read the tittle, I clicked "like", then posted on my wall, and tweeted it. How does this fulfilled the purpose of helping Aness?.... It didn't and worst I was a hypocrite. After reflecting on my social media actions I immediately made all my calls today, and sign the petition; otherwise why should I expect somebody else to do this, if I can't even do what I ask others to do.

This being said, I began promoting a new video production with very tragic catastrophic footage to encourage people to join the cause and "DONATE" to help the people on Haiti, so far I recruited only 7 people, who where able to watch the video above and still did not donate. I think anyone living in the United States today has at least $5 dollars they could donate to help these poor people with every second being critical for their lives.

I really hope this is a wake-up call for many as it was for me, because now that I think about it, it is really pathetic to see many promoting, sharing, and posting calls of actions without making the calls, and joining a cause like the one to help Haiti and not donating a cent. Be a practitioner of what you preach, or don't preach.

The message in one sentence: "Please Don't join, don't share, don't tweet, before you act."
